
As part of celebrating Heritage Month, today 14 September 2024, Inkosi MT Yende of Ogenyaneni Traditional Council, together with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Mpumalanga Provincial House of Traditional & Khoi-San Leaders, hosted Ummemo (Cultural Function) at his Royal Residence in Idalia, Ward 6 under Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The function is hosted annually and is meant to celebrate and encourage African culture and traditions and also raise awareness on both government and private sector initiatives with communities and also about the importance of cultural values.
Messages of support were shared by the Chairperson of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders, Kgoshi LM Mokoena, Gert Sibande District Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Walter Mngomezulu, Mpumalanga Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Sappi Forest, Department of Education, Eskom, Department of Health, and Imizamo Yabagibeli Rural Horse riders.
The event was attended by Traditional Leaders from different Traditional Councils, Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu and Mkhondo Local Municipality Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, Councillors, delegated Officials, CDWs and commuty members of Idalia and surrounding areas.
Keeping the guests entertained, traditional dancers, and other performers entertained the audience with different dances and music throughout the celebration.
