Today, 18 March 2025, the Local AIDS Council(LAC) held a meeting at the Mkhondo Council Chambers.
The session was chaired by the LAC Chairperson Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu along side with the LAC deputy chairperson Mlamuli Khumalo.
The purpose of the meeting was to converse on the plans that the LAC structure has for the year 2025 and also present reports from different departments and non-profit organisations regarding progress made thus far.
During the session/meeting, a pledge was signed, which declares “Gender Based Violence and Femicide is a pandemic that needs robust multi-sectoral interventions”.
The reports were presented by the HIV Coordinator Nondumiso Mavimbela.
The sitting was graced by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya and the Whip of Council Daniel Thwala.
Stakeholders in attendance were the Department of Social Development, Department of Health, Department of Education, GRIP, Traditional Council,Mpumalanga Shelter Movement, Anova health, HEAPS, BAMBANANI VEC, Buhle Bemvelo, LQBTQ community.
