
Today, 18 July 2024, Mkhondo Local Municipality has partnered with the Department of Water and Sanitation, Kangra Coal, Mpumalanga SALGA, TWK, and eMalangeni Technologies as part of celebrating Nelson Mandela Day.
The teams extended a helping hand by cleaning and donating gifts to the identified beneficiaries to support and encourage people to make a difference within communities in honour of Nelson Mandela.
The day had two sessions, with the first session focusing at Saul Mkhizeville with painting, cleaning, and donating gifts to learners at Qedela Secondary School and Qalani Primary School, then proceed to donate gifts at Driefontein Old Age home.
The second session was conducted in Amsterdam, with a donation of gifts at the Bambanani victim center and the cleaning of Jerico Dam.
FIRST SESSION | SAUL MKHIZEVILLE
The first ssession was successfully led by MMC Technical Services Cllr. Mary Thwala with activities done included the donation of scientific calculators, sanitary towels, paint, school shoes, and classroom doors at Qedela Secondary School, followed by the donation of wheelbarrow garden tools, paint, a wheelie bin, and tree planting at Qalani Secondary School; and the donation of blankets, heaters,a deep freezer and painting of Driefontein Old Age Home.
SECOND SESSION | AMSTERDAM
The second session was led by the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu in collaboration with the Executive Mayor of Msukwaligwa Local Municipality, Cllr. Mapulane Nkosi.
The activities executed included the donation of printing machines with cartridges, sanitary towels, branding and promotional materials, office electronic essentials, a bed with bedding at Bambanani Victim Empowerment Centre, and Office equipment to Amsterdam Youth Centre.
The donations were organised by Mpumalanga SALGA and were presented by the Provincial Director of Operations, Dr. Derrick Ndlovu.
