Today, Premier of Mpumalanga Mandla Ndlovu, represented by Mpumalanga MEC for the Department of Health, Ms Sasekani Manzini hosted the Provincial World TB Day commemoration supported by the Acting Gert Sibande District Municipality Mayor, Cllr. Busi Mkhwanazi, together with Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu held at Mandla Magudulela Stadium under Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The entourage led by the Acting Premier supported by leaders from the government, civil society, private sector, and development partners conducted a screening and testing of two identified households in the community.
The event started by the singing of a National Anthem and the MEC for Health lit the candles in remembrance of the people who passed due to TB.
The event was hosted under the theme, “Yes, You and I Can End TB.”
In support of the event, stakeholders in attendance were MMC for Special Projects – Cllr. B Mkhwanazi, representing GSDM Mayor; Mpumalanga Provincial TB Ambassador – Ms T Nkomo; Mpumalanga Traditional Health Practitioners – Ms S Pule; CSF Provincial Chairperson – Ms S Nkosi; Deputy Chairperson of the Mpumalanga Provincial House of Traditional Leaders – iNkosi uYende; iNkosi yakwa Madabukela – iNkosi uMthethwa; Provincial & MLM Councillors, Management and Officials, Pastor S Phakathi and the community of Mkhondo at large.
Ndlela Secondary School kept the attendees entertained by their angelic voices.
Among the Exhibitors were, the Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, Tara Health Care, HEAPS, IEC, Provincial Treasury, Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, Miss Mpumalanga 2025, Department of Education, Mpumalanga Provincial Government, National Health Laboratory Service, Statistics South Africa, National Prosecuting Authority, Department of Social Development, DRIP, Public Protector South Africa, Mpumalanga Regional Training Trust centre.
