The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) and Mkhondo Local Municipality (MLM) came together to conduct the MPAC Public Hearing session.
The main purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for key stakeholders and citizens to account for work done in the previous financial year and to provide responses on issues that were inadequate in the latest annual report, and to engage and give input on the annual report.
The session was chaired by the GSDM MPAC Chairperson, Cllr. N. Nhlapho, and co-chaired by MLM MPAC Chairperson, Cllr. D.M. Ntshakala.
This meeting mark a vital step forward in promoting transparency, fostering community engagement, and driving sustainable development as the annual report is an account of the municipality’s performance against predetermined objectives, as contained in the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) of the municipality.
The MPAC is acting as a bridge between the community and the council by actively listening to residents’ concerns, relaying them to decision-making bodies, and keeping the public informed about council activities.
