TAKING LEGISLATURE TO THE PEOPLE OVERSIGHT VISIT AT RUSTPLAAS WASTE WATER TREATMENT WORKS AND RETIEFVILLE INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS

As the Taking Legislature to the People(TLP) programme continues, the Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements, Co-operative Governance, and Traditional Affairs, accompanied by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, yogether with MLM Councillors, officials from the Mkhondo Local Municipality and Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, as well as representatives from Provincial Treasury and the Auditor General, visited Rustplaas Waste Water Treatment Works to assess the progress made on the construction of the Waste Water Treatment Works and also to evaluate the upgrading of informal settlements at Retiefville.

The TLP programme usually takes place annually in different municipalities, and guided by Section 118 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, which mandate the Legislature to facilitate public engagements and oversight of projects funded by government.
