Mkhondo Local Municipality, in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education and the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, convened a prayer session for Mkhondo.

This follows the devastating floods that left a trail of destruction in Mkhondo late last year and also the recent severe storms that resulted in the death of two people which included a woman and a young person.

It is behind this background that the key stakeholders saw it necessary to convene a prayer session.

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Dr. MR Mhaule, in her remarks, urged the churches to be united, and emphasized the significant role played by the churches in the community at large.

Her message was based on the following Scripture:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Chronicles 7:14

THE PRAYER WAS BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:

• Ubumbano (Peace and Harmony)

• Drugs and sustance abuse by the youth.

• Severe weather conditions

• Education Sector

• Gender-Based Violence and Femicide.

• Mkhondo Economy

• Prayer for the Republic of South Africa.

In attendance were the Deputy Minister Dr. Mhaule, MPL Ms Randy Nkonyane, GSDM Acting Executive Mayor, Bhekabantu Mtshali, Mkhondo Executive Mayor Cllr.Ngelosi Ndlovu, Members of the Mayoral Committee, Councillors, Traditional Leaders, Mkhondo Ministers Fratenal Civil Society and other stakeholders.
