The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, is moving full steam ahead with efforts to restore what was damaged by the recent devastating hailstorm.
Accompanied by her team, the Executive Mayor has launched an important SOD-turning programme for transformative municipal projects funded by the Disaster Response Grant. This initiative aims to restore and enhance municipal infrastructure that has suffered due to the recent disaster.
The programme began with a briefing session at eZiphunzini Community Hall, during which the General Manager for Technical Services, Sphesihle Nkosi introduced the construction companies appointed to assist in rehabilitating affected areas around Mkhondo.
The scope of work includes several key projects:
– Re-gravelling and stormwater management for 600 meters at eZinkonjaneni (Welverdien), Ward 17.
– Re-gravelling and stormwater management for a 1900-meter by 5-meter road in Mangosuthu, Ward 13.
– Rehabilitation and asphalt resealing of a 1 km road on Pretorius Street in Harmony Park, Ward 14.
– Re-gravelling and stormwater management for a 2-kilometer road at Dr. Pols Villages, Ward 08.
These projects are crucial for improving the resilience and functionality of the municipality’s infrastructure.
The Executive Mayor continues to prioritise the needs of residents as Mkhondo works towards recovery and revitalisation.
