In an effort to curb road accidents and raise awareness for Transport Month, the Mkhondo Local Municipality, in partnership with national and provincial law enforcement agencies, conducted a roadblock yesterday, 25 October 2024, along the N2 near Kempsiding.
This roadblock aimed to highlight the crucial role of transport in the economy and to ensure safer travel for all road users. It also provided an opportunity to verify that motorists are complying with road regulations to ensure safety on our roads.
The Executive Mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, actively participated in the initiative, by engaging with motorists and travelers to encourage safe driving practices and adherence to road rules.
Key stakeholders who contributed to the success of this roadblock included the South African Revenue Service, the Department of Health, the South African Police Service, the Department of Home Affairs, Border Management, Customs, and Immigration Services.
