The Speaker of Council, Cllr. MZ Ngwenya visited  the long awaited phelophepa healthcare at the Mkhondo train station to welcome the Transnet healthcare team led by Dr Manamela.

The Speaker further encouraged residents to take advantage of this valuable opportunity of various services at their door step and consult with healthcare professionals to ensure their health is safeguarded.

He also assured the phelophepa team that as the municipality will assist in terms of mobilizing the communities to come and access these daily essential services.

Dr Manamela outlined the services provided in the healthcare train and also mentioned fees patients will pay according to their ages. He said all services are free of charge for the patients below 16 years. From 16 years and above there is a cost of R5 for the healthcare medication, for dental clinic services, patients will pay R10 and extra R5 for additional medication, for eye care clinic services, patients will pay R30 for prescription pair of spectacles, and psychological services are almost free, making it accessible for everyone in the community with the aim to promote health awareness and provide essential medical services, including screenings, check-ups, and health education.

The communities are urged not to miss out on this life changing services by prioritizing their well-being and visit the healthcare train.
