MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY 2024/25 INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND BUDGET CONSULTATIVE MEETING AT WARD 11

The Mkhondo Local Municipality 2024/25 Financial Year Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meeting for Ward 11 was successfully held at eZiphunzini Community Hall yesterday, 18 April 2024

The IDP and Budget Review meetings are scheduled for the sole purpose of consulting with communities and further facilitating basic services for provision to infrastructural development and projects within Wards.

The meeting was chaired by the Ward Councillor, Cllr. Nhlanhla Gwebu; and attended by the Whip of Council, Cllr. Daniel Thwala; MMC for Special Projects in Gert Sibande District Municipality, Cllr. Busi Mkhwanazi; CDW member, Ward Committee members, and delegated municipal officials, and the community members.

 

SANRAL AND MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY INFORMATION SHARING SESSION

Today, 18 April 2024, SANRAL in collaboration with Mkhondo Local Municipality hosted a Stakeholder Information-Sharing Session regarding the anticipated N2 Road Maintenance Project, with the purpose of sharing detailed information on the said project, targeting existing and aspiring SMMEs in the construction sector.

Amongst stakeholders in attendance were the MMC for Technical Services, Cllr. DM Thwala;as Acting Executives Mayor, Speaker of Council, Cllr. MZ Ngwenya, Whip of Council, Cllr. DM Thwala, MMC for Special Projects from Gert Sibande District Municipality, Cllr. CB Mkhwanazi; MMC for Planning and Development, Cllr. TE Khumalo, other Councillors, Acting Municipal Manager, MJ Mkhonza, Management from Mkhondo Local Municipality. Also present were SANRAL representatives, a Consulting Engineer, WBHO representatives, and local SMMEs. 

This project will help improve the local economy while creating employment opportunities for people from Mkhondo.

The project is anticipated to commence in July this year.

Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meetings commenced on 11 April 2024 and scheduled to take place throughout the rest of the month.   

The meetings are intended to engage with communities regarding service delivery within Wards. 

Today, 16 April 2024, the meeting was held at Skeyfin Community Hall, under Ward 13.  

Ward Councillor, Cllr. Nonhlanhla Mthewtha chaired the meeting. Assigned Municipal Officials and Ward Committees members were also present.

Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meetings commenced on 11 April 2024 and scheduled to take place throughout the rest of the month. 

The meetings are intended to engage with communities regarding service delivery within Wards.

Today, 14 April 2024, the second meeting of the day was held at Iswepe Community Hall, under Ward 04.

The Whip of Council, and Ward 04 Councillor, Cllr. Daniel Thwala chaired the meeting. Assigned Municipal Officials and Community Development Workers were also present.

Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meetings commenced on 11 April 2024 and scheduled to take place throughout the rest of the month. 

Today, 14 April 2024, the meeting was held at Sibanesezwe Primary School in Saul Mkhizeville, under Ward 1. 

The Speaker of the Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya attended the meeting chaired by Ward 1 Councillor, Cllr. Nosipho Sangweni, Assigned Municipal Officials and Ward Committee members were also present.

 

COMMUNITY VOTER EDUCATION WORKSHOP FOR ELECTIONS 2024 AT WARD 03

Today, 13 April 2024, Mpumalanga Legislature through its representatives and Mkhondo Local Municipality representatives, together with Ward 03 Councillor, Ward Committees, Community Development Worker, visited the community of Ward 03 at KwaNgema Youth Centre, with the purpose of conducting a voter education workshop, educating community members on the procedures and processes of voting.

The Legislature Is conducting these workshops as its Constitutional Mandate to engage in public participation, petitions, oversight and education on voter registration procedures, and it mainly focuses on rural communities, encouraging residents to participate in the upcoming National, Regional and Provincial Government Elections on the 29th of May 2024.

It was outlined that in the upcoming voting election 2024, there are 3 ballot papers to be used with different colours representing National, Regional and Provincial ballot paper. Ballot 1 is for the NATIONAL to vote for political party to represent you in the National Assembly. Ballot 2 is a new ballot for REGIONAL to vote for political parties or independent candidates contesting in that region (Province) for elections to the National Assembly. Ballot 3 is PROVINCIAL to vote for political parties or independent candidates contesting elections of the provincial Legislature in that province. It was also mentioned that, you will only receive three ballots and not just two as in the past elections, if you vote at the voting station where you are registered.

Community members were urged not to put emojis when voting for their political parties, not to make a cross of more than one when voting, and it was also said that voting for more than one party is not allowed, and they were asked to check for the validation of the ballot by checking for a stamp at the back of the ballot paper to avoid your paper being counted as a spoiled vote. 

They were also reminded the importance of voting, saying that, If you are 18 years and older, is your Constitutional responsibility to participate in the democracy by electing a party or a leader to lead the country on your behalf. Residents were requested to bring their ID card, ID book or Temporal IDs.

Today, 13 April 2024, the meeting was held at Sihanahana Superstore at Athole Farm, under Ward 19.

The Speaker of the Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya attended the meeting chaired by Ward 19 Councillor, Cllr. Musa Lukhele, Assigned Municipal Officials and Ward Committee members were also present.

 

MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY AND GERT SIBANDE DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL PLANT APPRECIATION DAY AT DELFKOM PRIMARY SCHOOL

Today, 12 April 2024, Mkhondo Local Municipality through the Environmental Management Unit, alongside Gert Sibande District Municipality successfully held a Biodiversity Conservation Awareness Campaign at Delfkom Primary School, under Ward 9.

This was a buildup session as part of International Plant Appreciation Day which is celebrated annually on the 13th of April. The session focused on educating pupils and attendees on the importance of conserving the environment and environmental impacts of climate change. 

The awareness also included planting of trees, grass cutting at the school, cleaning and clearing of the school grounds, in efforts of showcasing commitment to nurturing and preserving the environment.

Amongst attendees were Vusiwe Dube, Senior Manager Environmental Management from Mkhondo Local Municipality; Sindi Kubheka, Biodiversity and Conservation Officer from the Gert Sibande District Municipality, a Ward Committee member for Ward 9, members of the School Governing Body, Parents, Educators and Municipal officials.

 

MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY 2024/25 INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND BUDGET CONSULTATIVE MEETING - WARD 10

The MLM 2024/25 FY Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meetings have commenced from today, 11 April 2024.

The meetings are scheduled for the sole purpose of consulting with communities and further facilitating basic services for provision to infrastructural development and projects within Wards.

The meeting was held at the Old Age Home in Magadeni, under Ward 10.

Amongst e attendees were the Speaker of the Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, Ward Councillor, Cllr. Zodwa Thomo, the Acting CFO, Stephan Chavarika, and other municipal officials.
