CELEBRATING EARTH DAY 2024
Earth Day is celebrated annually on the 22nd of April across the Globe.
The objective of observing this day, is for all to demonstrate support for environmental protection, thus reminding us of our responsibility and role in maintaining a sustainable environment.
We encourage the community to protect the environment by keeping our areas clean and planting Indigeneous trees/ plants.
The Environmental Management Unit offices can be visited for any environment-related issues at Cnr. du Toit and Kotze Street.
MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY 2024/25 DRAFT INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND BUDGET CONSULTATIVE MEETING AT WARD 15
The Mkhondo Local Municipality today, 21 April 2024, conducted its first 2024/25 Draft IDP and Budget consultative meeting of the day, which was successfully held at Ekuphileni under Ward 15.
The key purpose of these meetings is for the municipality to present the municipal developments planned concerning the 2024/25 projected draft budget for services (e.g. Electricity, Water and Infrastructure, etc), and to consult, present a platform, and also to engage with the community members regarding their service delivery concerns in relation to the draft IDP &Budget.
The respective Ward Councillor, Cllr. SM Shoba led the meeting, in the presence of the Speaker of Council – Cllr MZ Ngwenya; delegated municipal officials, and also the community at large.
Towards the end of the meeting, the community was given an opportunity to choose and vote for their Ward Committee Member to represent Ekuphileni community and surrounding areas at the municipality working through the Ward Councillor.
This imperative task was carried out by the Speaker of Council.
MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY 2024/25 FINANCIAL YEAR INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN (IDP) AND BUDGET REVIEW CONSULTATIVE MEETING AT WARD 05
Integrated Development Plan and Budget consultative meetings commenced on 11 April 2024 and scheduled to take place throughout the rest of the month.
The meetings are intended to engage with communities regarding service delivery within Wards.
Today, 20 April 2024, the 3rd meeting of the day was held at Kwa Thandeka Hall, under Ward 05.
The meeting was chaired by Ward 05 Councillor, Cllr. JM Nkosi. Assigned Municipal Officials and Ward Committee members were also present.
