The Mkhondo Local Municipality, through its HIV and AIDS Unit, successfully convened a Local AIDS Council meeting today, 05 June 2025, in the Council Chambers. This legislated gathering served as a platform to address pressing HIV/AIDS-related issues impacting communities within the municipality.
The session was co-chaired by the Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mthandeni Mkhabela, and Mr. Mlamuli Khumalo, Chairperson of the Local AIDS Council in Mkhondo.
The primary objective of the meeting was to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to present community-driven programmes, share best practices, and engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at strengthening collaborative responses to HIV/AIDS in the region.

- Traditional Healers
- Department of Health
- Department of Social Development
- Tholulwazi
- Tholimpilo
- Door of Hope Pregnancy Support Centre
- GRIP
- HEAPS
- The Shelter Movement
- MLM Councillors
- Other vital community-based organisations
The ongoing collaborative efforts among these diverse stakeholders remain critical in tackling the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS and in promoting the overall health and well-being of the Mkhondo community.
