On Wednesday, 28 May 2025, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndhlovu, convened a powerful and inspiring Stakeholder Engagement Session with leaders and practitioners from the Media, Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation sectors.
The session provided a vital platform for stakeholders to Share insights and creative ideas, Identify opportunities for collaboration, Strengthen partnerships that promote inclusive and vibrant community development.
The Executive Mayor emphasized the critical role these sectors play in driving social cohesion, youth development, and economic growth through innovation and cultural expression.
“Today marks a step forward in building a united front that supports sustainable development and community empowerment,” – Executive Mayor Ndhlovu.
This engagement marks the beginning of ongoing efforts to work more closely with these key sectors in shaping a dynamic and inclusive future for all residents.
During the engagement, several important areas of collaboration and support that were discussed, included:
Funding and Resource Mobilization: Exploring sustainable financial support mechanisms for community-based projects and creative initiatives.
Infrastructure Development: Enhancing access to public facilities such as community halls, sports fields, and cultural centres.
Skills Development & Training: Expanding access to training programs for young people and professionals in arts, media, and sports.
Youth Empowerment: Creating targeted programs that engage youth in creative expression, sports development, and cultural preservation.
Event Partnerships: Strengthening coordination and support for community events, festivals, exhibitions, and tournaments.
Policy Support & Inclusion: Ensuring that sector-specific policies are inclusive, responsive, and reflective of stakeholder needs.
“Today’s session reaffirmed our commitment to partnering with these vibrant sectors to build a more united, creative, and empowered community,” – Executive Mayor Ndhlovu. “Together, we can create spaces that celebrate our diversity, nurture talent, and strengthen social cohesion.”
The Municipality will continue to engage stakeholders through follow-up workshops and collaborative planning sessions to implement the ideas discussed.
