WORLD WETLAND DAY CELEBRATION AT ST ANDREWS PRIMARY SCHOOL
Mkhondo Local Municipality through Environmental Management Unit, in collaboration with Gert Sibande District Municipality, alongside with the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land & Environmental Affairs, Mondi, Inkomati Usuthu, Mkhondo FPA and Community Work Programme celebrated the day with the pupils of St Andrews Primary School today, 16 February 2024.
The purpose of the celebration was to educate learners about the importance of protecting wetlands in our communities; during the session two learners were gifted with prizes for their outstanding participation in a puzzle competition.
The celebration proceeded with a tour to the nearest Wetland, where pupils were further practically educated about the wetlands.
Four River Bush Willow trees were donated and planted at St Andrews Primary School to emphasise the importance of environmental conservation.
SPEAKER OF COUNCIL VOTER EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Mkhondo Local Municipality Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, with his continual voter education programme, accompanied by Ward 2 Councillor, Cllr. Bheki Maisela visited EZakheni Boarding School today, 16 February 2024.
The purpose of his visit was to conduct a voter education session for learners who are eligible to vote in the 2024 National Government Elections and further educated them about the importance of voting as a South African citizen.
DAY 2 OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME
The Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya visited the community of Shabalala, Ward 2, today, 15 February 2024, to engage with the community members concerning the issues of service delivery.
The purpose of this programme is to encourage communities to have meaningful inputs into the decision-making processes related to service delivery and community development.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME
Mkhondo Local Municipality Office of the Speaker has embarked on a public participation programme, which will take place in all 19 wards in Mkhondo.
The Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya engaged with the community of Kwa Ngema North, Ward 1 today, 14 February 2024.
The purpose of this programme is to encourage communities to have meaningful inputs into the decision-making processes related to service delivery and community development.
