ORDINARY COUNCIL MEETING - MUNICIPAL NOTICE NO: 37/12/01-2023
The Speaker of Mkhondo Municipal Council, honourable Cllr. M.Z Ngwenya hereby gives notice in terms of Section 19 (a) of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, No.32 of 2000 that an Ordinary Council meeting of the Mkhondo Local Municipality will be held in the Municipal Council Chambers, situated at 33 Cnr Mark & De Wet Street, eMkhondo, on Wednesday, 13 December 2023 at 10h00.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT AND LAUNCHING OF MKHONDO 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST VIOLENCE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN
Gender-Based Violence and Femicide has devastated our communities and requires a joint effort by all of us to make our country safe.
For this reason, the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu through the Target Group and HIV and AIDS units along with the Department of Agriculture, Department of Employment and Labour, Department of Social Development and Thando Women Care Services & Development Centre, launched the 16 Days of Activism against GBVF through a women’s seminar at Faith Apostolic Church in Rustplaas yesterday, the 28th of November 2023.
The seminar is intended for enlightening women to become aware of the power they possess to reshape their lives in a way that may contribute to a decline in GBVF cases. The ladies were also encouraged to become business-inclined as a method to achieve financial freedom.
UPDATE ON THE UNPLANNED POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION AFFECTING RICHARDSBAY, THEMBALABASHA AND SURROUNDINGS
The municipal technicians have been working around the clock to ensure that power is restored.
In Richardsbay power will be restored shortly.
In Thembalabasha, technicians are on site installing a new transformer.
Residents will be kept abreast with progress.
The municipality apologise for the inconvenience to the affected residents.
NOTICE: UNPLANNED POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION
The municipality is aware of the current power outage resulting from faulty electrical cables in the respective areas below:
- Richardsbay
- Thembalabasha
- SK Krushes
- Metshisweni section
- Plots section
Municipal Technicians are on site attending to the matter to ensure that power in the vicinities is restored.
The estimated time of completion is currently unknown.
The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
