MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY IN COLLABORATION WITH KANGRA COAL MINE LAUNCH ROAD MAINTENANCE PROJECT IN SAUL MKHIZEVILLE
Mkhondo Local Municipality, Executive Mayor Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, in collaboration with Kangra Coal Mine, Mine Manager Pieter du Preez and other key stakeholders, held a successful launch for the Road Maintenance Project in Saul Mkhizeville earlier today, 10 April 2024.
This initiative comes after Kangra Mine pledged to maintain the road, as it has been deteriorated for a long time. This marks a significant step towards enhancing the quality of infrastructure and ensuring safer, smoother roads for all residents and visitors coming to the village.
The partnership between Mkhondo Local Municipality and Kangra Coal Mine exemplifies a shared commitment to improving and investing in the well-being of our communities. The project will benefit not only road users but all communities across Saul Mkhizeville and surrounding areas.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, was thrilled with the initiative from Kangra Coal Mine and said, "As Mkhondo Local Municipality, we are excited about the positive impact this initiative will have on our community. I look forward to seeing the continued progress and improvements in our road infrastructure."
The project has commenced and is anticipated to last for 5 months. The team will be doing road resealing for 18 km from the N2 road to Saul Mkhizeville.
Among the attendees were the Stakeholder Relations Manager from Kangra, Mpfuneni Mulaudzi, Stakeholder Relations Officer Simo Yende, Local Development Manager for MLM Howard Vilakazi, and Senior Manager for Roads and Stormwater Phakamani Ndlovu.

AMADLELO ALUHLAZA BENEFITS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ROADS AND TRANSPORT
The MEC for Public Works Roads and Transport, Mandla Ndlovu, alongside Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, from Madabukela Traditional Council, Inkosi Thulani Mthethwa; Councillors, Acting Municipal Manager, Mtha’ Mkhonza, and Mkhondo East Circuit Manager Musawenkosi Luthuli visited Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary School today, 9 April 2024 to donate 100 desks with the purpose of easing the shortage of educational infrastructure at the school.
The visit comes after the MEC formerly pledged to donate the desks during his follow-up visit on 23 January 2024.
The donation serves as an investment in showing the department’s commitment in prioritising education within rural municipalities in order to promote community development and to bring hope to our learners.
