On 24 April 2026, the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) successfully held its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Consultation Meeting for the 2026/27 financial year.
The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Busisiwe Sekhonde.
The purpose of the consultation was to review and update the needs of the Mkhondo community, ensuring that development plans and budget allocations are aligned with community priorities.
During the engagement, residents were afforded an opportunity to raise concerns, highlight service delivery challenges, and contribute towards identifying key development priorities within Mkhondo. The session also provided an outline of projects that have been budgeted for implementation within the Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The consultation was attended by the District Mayor, Cllr. Walter Mngomezulu, House of Traditional Leaders ,Members of the Mayoral Committee, Councillors, the Speaker of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr. M.Z Ngwenya, along with other Councillors and officials from both Gert Sibande District Municipality and Mkhondo Local Municipality.
