03 kuMandulo 2026 – uMasipala wase Mkhondo ngokubambisana noMnyango Wezokubusa Ngokubambisana, Ezokuhlaliswa Kwabantu kanye Nezindaba Zomdabu eMpumalanga (COGHSTA), wethule osonkontileka abaqokelwe ukwenza umsebenzi wokususwa kwe-asbestos kusigceme 11.
Lo msebenzi uzohlomulisa imindeni eyikhulu, kanti umsebenzi ozokwenziwa ukususwa ngokuphepha kwe asbestos ngenhloso yokuthuthukisa ukuphepha, impilo kanye nezimo zokuhlala jikelele zezakhamuzi.
Lo msebenzi ulindeleke ukuba udale amathuba emisebenzi kumalungu omphakathi waso isigceme, lokhu kuzothuthukisa umnotho wase Mkhondo futhi kuqinisekise ukuthi izinzuzo zalo msebenzi azigcini nje ekuthuthukiseni izimo zezindlu kodwa nemiphakathi.
Lo msebenzi kulindeleke ukuthi uphothulwe ezinyangeni ezine.

03 September 2026 – Mkhondo Local Municipality, in partnership with the Mpumalanga Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), introduced the contractors appointed to undertake the asbestos removal project in Ward 11.
The project will benefit 100 households, where asbestos-containing materials will be safely removed and replaced, helping to improve the safety, health, and overall living conditions of residents.
The project will create employment opportunities for members of the Ward 11 community, contributing to local economic development and ensuring that the benefits of the project extend beyond improved housing conditions.
The project is expected to be completed within four months.
