On the 11th of June 2026, Gert Sibande District Municipality and Mkhondo Local Municipality convened a District AIDS Council meeting at the Mkhondo Local Municipality Council Chambers.
Representing Gert Sibande District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. MW Mngomezulu, MMC Busisiwe Mkhwanazi informed attendees that Lenacapavir is now available at Phola Park Clinic and Amsterdam Clinic within Mkhondo.
Mkhondo Local Municipality and Govan Mbeki Local Municipality presented reports on HIV/AIDS statistics, highlighting the various strategies implemented to curb the spread of the virus and improve community health outcomes.
The programme later moved to Skeyfin Hall in Ward 13, where stakeholders continued engaging with community members on matters relating to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and awareness.
In attendance were: government officials, Municipal Officials, department of Health, department of social services, department of Education, NPOs, CDWs, Community members and other stakeholders.
