Mkhondo Local Municipality delivered an outstanding performance at the South African Municipal Wellness Association (SAMWA) Games, held from 21 to 25 September 2026 in Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
The week-long tournament brought together 31 municipalities from across the country, competing for the coveted title of SAMWA 2026 Champions. Our teams displayed exceptional dedication, discipline and team spirit throughout the competition.
While our Pool and Darts teams bowed out in the knockout stages after a valiant effort, our other sporting codes made it to the podium stage with Soccer securing 3rd place, Netball and Females Volleyball securing 2nd place, and Males Volleyball crowned Champions of the SAMWA 2026 Games.
Mkhondo Local Municipality congratulates all athletes, coaches and officials who represented the municipality with pride and sportsmanship. Your hard work has brought honour to Mkhondo.
