On the 19 September 2025, Mkhondo Local Municipality partnered with the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) to host a community engagement session at Skyfin Community Hall. The session was aimed at educating Subsidy House (RDP) beneficiaries about their rights and responsibilities.

The NHBRC highlighted its key services which includes provision of warranty coverage for structural defects on enrolled houses and promotes ethical, high-quality building standards. It is also mandated to protect housing consumers and ensuring that builders adhere to strict building regulations and provide quality services to their clients.

Community members of Ward 16 actively participated in the session, which was attended by their Ward 16 Councillor, Cllr. Thembi Qwabe; Municipal officials, and NHBRC representatives.

The session empowered beneficiaries with valuable information on their rights and responsibilities, enabling them to make informed decisions about their housing. By understanding their rights, beneficiaries can ensure that their homes are built to high standards and that any issues are addressed promptly.
