The Mkhondo Local Municipality has kicked off its 2025/2026 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Consultation Meetings on 02 October 2025, engaging with communities across all 19 wards throughout the month of October.
Community members actively participated in the meeting voicing their concerns, and providing input on service delivery issues affecting their livelihoods. Ward 11 councillor, Cllr. Nhlanhla Gwebu discussed project priorities with the community, ensuring the municipality’s IDP and budget align with the needs of each ward. He further outlined completed and ongoing projects, discussed progress and outstanding issues to the community.
Eligible residents are also encouraged to register for the indigent program, ensuring they receive essential services without interruption.
Attendees included Municipal officials, councillors, ward committee members, and Community Development Workers (CDWs) to facilitate discussions and provide relevant information to the community.
The Mkhondo Local Municipality’s IDP and Budget Consultation Meetings demonstrate the municipality’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-driven development. By engaging with residents, the municipality can create a more effective IDP and budget that addresses the needs of each ward.
