On 31 January 2026, the Deputy Minister of Basic Education – Dr Reginah Mhaule, together with the Mpumalanga MEC for Education – Ms Lindi Masina, the Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor- Cllr. Ngelosi Ndlovu, and MPL Ms Randy Nkonyane, held an engagement with education role players from the Mkhondo East and West circuits at Inqubeko Secondary School.
The engagement aimed to assess the current state of the district, with a focus on academic performance, achievements, challenges, and to strengthen coordinated interventions to improve matric results outcomes.
In her keynote address, Dr Mhaule commended school principals, Circuit Managers, Educators, and School Governing Bodies (SGBs) for their commitment and efforts during the 2025 academic year. The Deputy Minister further encouraged all stakeholders to sustain collaborative efforts to improve learner performance and achieve quality results in the 2026 academic year.
During the engagement, schools committed to strengthening support for educators and learners. Key programmes and interventions were also outlined to address identified challenges and enhance the quality of academic outcomes.
The engagement was supported by MLM Members of the Mayoral Committee, the District Director, Mr P.P. Magagula, GSDM MMC for Special Projects; Cllr. Busi Mkhwanazi, Principals, School management Teams (SMTs), SGBs, and other stakeholders.
