Women's Month commemoration - 16 August 2019 at 13:21
As the Women's month (August) has began, celebrations of honouring women's month continues all over Mzansi (South Africa). On the 16 August 2019, the office of the Speaker of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr GT Nkosi with Ondlunkulu hosted a programme which has become a 3rd year Annual programme.
The government departments in partnership with Mkhondo Local Municipality gathered together on the N2 national road near Mondi placed a roadblock, ensuring motor vehicles are road worthy and also ensuring that no illegal stuff found on the vehicles, the search being done by female traffic officers.
The Department of Health, Home Affairs and Correctional Services, were giving out condoms to motorist preaching sexual protection for themselves and everyone who engage on sexual activities and also given pamphlets with informative knowledge needed by the public.
All these things were done under the umbrella of commemorating the women's month. #WomenIsPower #Wathint'Abafazi_Wathint'Imbokodo

Youth Day Commemoration Imbizo - 21 June 2019
Gert Sibande District Municipality working together with Mkhondo Local Municipality, National Youth Development Agency and other stakeholders hosting a Youth Day Commemoration Imbizo.
The Imbizo is being honoured to be graced with the Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality, Hon. Cllr Chirwa and Hon. Cllr Vusi Motha, Executive Mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The Imbizo is aimed at celebrating and giving honor to the 1976 young heroes and heroines, who gave their lives fighting against an unjust and inferior apartheid education system.
Youth in Business Breakfast - 14th June 2019
Mkhondo Local Municipality convened a Youth in Business Breakfast through the Office of the executive Mayor .
Various Youth Agencies were invited by the Municipality , to give public education and to give information in paricular to young people of Mkhondo .
Youth Agencies that were present includes: SEDA , NYDA , TWK , GS Center Entrepreneurship Development Agency and Mkhondo Local Municipality Supply Chain , the whole intention of this platform was to conscietize young people of Mkhondo to tap in Economic opportunities in business.
The Youth of Mkhondo and surrounding areas were so grateful to be part of such an amazing event.

Launch of the Mkhondo Junior Council on the 12th of June 2019.
Mkhondo local Municipality has today the 12th of June 2019, held a successful launch of its Junior council. The launch was attended by learners from all Circuits of Mkhondo, the Councillors of Mkhondo Municipality, Mkhondo addiction Rehabilitation Centre and the Department of Social Development.
The aim of the launch was to promote the realisation of the Rights of Children in relation to their survival, development, growth and participation as entrenched in the constitution of South Africa and harmonized in a range of relevant legislation and other policies pertaining to Children.
The launch was also aimed at the election of the Mkhondo Local Municipality Junior Council.
The council elected Junior Councillors, Palesa Xaba (speaker of Council) from the Mkhondo Circuit, Nhlonipho Dube (Junior Executive Mayor) of the council from Amsterdam Circuit, Nosipho Ngwenya (Whip of Council) from Wakkerstroom Circuit.
The Mayor was then tasked with the appointment of 3 members of the Mayoral Committee. The following Junior Councillors were appointed by the honourable Junior Executive Mayor:
- MMC for EDUCATION: J Cllr. Khaya Shongwe from Amsterdam Circuit
- MMC for Social Welfare of children: J Cllr. Nondumiso Mbuyazi from Mkhondo Circuit
- MMC for Child protection: J Cllr. Minenhle Nkonyane from Wakkerstroom Circuit.
The launch received numerous messages and the children were offered a chance to voice the challenges they face on day to day basis and the solutions thereof.
Electricity Project handover in Makhanga Village Ward 4 - 03 June 2019 Time: 14h06
Ward councillor, Cllr Thwala together with Mrs Phakathi of Mkhondo Local Municipality and Eskom delegate, handed over Electricity project in Makhanga Village under ward 04. The community members of Mkhanga Village welcomed the project with gratitude and thanked the Municipality for service delivery.
Bulk Water and Water Reticulation system project at Dr.Pols (Ward 8) - 19 February 2019
The Executive Mayor, Hon.Cllr Vusi Motha; Municipal Manager, Mr. Maqhawe Kunene; Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya (ward 8), Management of Mkhondo Local Municipality and Business people embarked on a service delivery journey to hand over "Bulk water and water reticulation system" project to the community of Dr. Pols in ward 8 within the boundaries of Mkhondo Local Municipality. Community members came out in numbers to witness service delivery mandate.
