Welcome to the Mkhondo Local Municipality

Mkhondo Local Municipality is a local municipality under Gert Sibande District Municipality in. Mpumalanga Province and it has nineteen (19) wards. It is the historic town of eMkhondo (formerly known as Piet Retief) and Amsterdam, and is a seat of the municipality and a gateway to Swaziland,KwaZulu-Natal, Maputo and Gauteng.

Visitors are attracted by the local Golf Country Club in town that provide excellent sporting facilities. While horse riding has a high appeal in the rural villages near KwaNgema and Driefontein. Visitors will be blown away with Ingoma traditional dancing happening in eNtombe. Hikers and Car racers find Amsterdam much more convenient and fulfilling with its mountains, and water falls.
