IN PICTURES || MLM Speaker Drives Voter Education at Cana Combined School
Mkhondo Local Municipality Speaker of Council, Cllr Mduduzi Ngwenya, led a voter education and registration awareness programme on the 17th of June 2026, at Cana Combined School in Ward 9 as part of Youth Month commemorations.
Learners were educated on the importance of participating in democratic processes, with a focus on voting and the voter registration process. They were encouraged to become active, responsible citizens by exercising their constitutional right to vote once eligible.
The school principal expressed appreciation for the initiative and thanked the Speaker and MLM for bringing voter education directly to learners.
An IEC representative also addressed the learners, highlighting registration dates, how to check registration status, or why every vote counts. The IEC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth voter education across Mkhondo.
As a gesture of support, Cllr Ngwenya donated 50 stationery packs to learners during the session.
