On the 15th of June 2026, Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises from across Mkhondo took centre stage this week at a vibrant Pop-Up Market Day, celebrating local talent, produce, and innovation.
The exhibition brought together entrepreneurs from the community to showcase products and services. Visitors got to see firsthand the creativity driving Mkhondo’s local economy.
The event was proudly supported by Mkhondo Local Municipality, the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency SEDFA, Mpact, and the Mpumalanga Department of Small Business Development. All partners share one goal which is to empower and grow SMMEs in the region.
MMC for Planning and Economic Development, Cllr Thembi Khumalo, attended the market. She engaged with exhibitors and stakeholders, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to entrepreneurship and economic development.
The initiative urged community members to support local businesses by purchasing their goods and services. Organizers say this directly contributes to economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development in Mkhondo.
For many entrepreneurs, the exhibition was more than a sales day. It provided a space to market products, network with peers, and connect with potential customers, helping strengthen Mkhondo’s economy.
