On 09 September 2025, the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, in collaboration with Mkhondo Local Municipality, proudly handed over essential tools of trade to 18 emerging Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) from various wards in Mkhondo. This initiative is a significant step towards empowering local entrepreneurs and stimulating economic growth in the area.
The donated tools include professional salon equipment, comprehensive car wash materials, and sewing machines, directly supporting the growth of local businesses in wards 2, 7, 10, 11, and 13. This strategic investment aims to boost economic development, create jobs, and foster sustainable livelihoods within the community.
The initiative followed earlier training sessions designed to equip entrepreneurs with practical skills, empowering them to develop their businesses from foundational levels to advanced operations. By providing both skills training and necessary tools, the Department strengthens the capacity of small businesses to thrive, contributing to the broader goal of economic empowerment and inclusive growth in Mkhondo.
