IN PICTURES || LAC final sitting of 2025
On the 28th of November 2025, Mkhondo Local Municipality convened its final Local AIDS Council (LAC) sitting for the year 2025 at the Municipal Council Chambers.
MMC for Planning and Economic Development, Cllr. TE Khumalo and Mr. Mlamuli Khumalo, Chairperson of Civil Society successfully conducted the meeting.
The session began with a moment of silence in memory of Cllr. WH Vilakazi, a dedicated member of the structure who recently passed away.
Participated Stakeholders provided updates on their initiatives, including community dialogues addressing GBVF, rape, crime, and substance abuse, which are often linked to poverty. The meeting also highlighted the alarming rise in teenage pregnancy, and parents were urged to report cases of any kind of ill-treatment to the South African Police Service.
The Council’s efforts to tackle these challenges were discussed, with a focus on collaborative action with government institutions, private sector and NGOs, NPs to support affected families and for the betterment of the lives of our communities.
