As part of the department’s ongoing commitment to youth development and healthy lifestyle, the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation donated a new set of soccer poles along with two sets of nets to the Kwa- Ngema Soccer Team on 17 October 2025,under the Ward Councillor’s stewardship, Cllr MN Mbatha at Ward 03 in Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The key primary goal of the initiative is to promote social and socio-economic development among young people through sports participation by ensuring that they have access to proper equipment and facilities.
A representative from the Department stated that they believe sport plays a vital role in empowering youth, strengthening communities, and fostering social development. By supporting local teams with the necessary resources, the Department aims to develop talent at the grassroots level and provide positive alternatives to combat harmful social behaviors.
Ward Councillor, Cllr. MN Mbatha, welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation, stating that the equipment will boost local sporting activities and inspire the community’s youth.
