Donkerhoek, 09 July 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on Economic Development and Tourism of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, led by Hon. L.A. Mbuyane, conducted an oversight visit to the Donkerhoek Water Bottling Plant.
The oversight visit was attended by the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Hon. Ms J. Sidell, MMC Cllr T.E. Khumalo, and other key stakeholders.
The purpose of the oversight visit was to assess the progress of the project, gain a clear understanding of the challenges it has faced since its establishment in 2014 through the Rural Development Programme, and identify practical solutions to ensure its sustainability.
The Committee also engaged with key stakeholders, including the Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA), on interventions aimed at revitalising and recapacitating the Donkerhoek Water Bottling Plant. These collaborative efforts seek to strengthen the project’s operations.
