The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) recently held a community engagement, “Taking SANRAL to Mkhondo residents,” on 17 September 2025. The engagement took place at the Mkhondo Local Municipality Town Hall and brought together key stakeholders to discuss the upcoming N2 road construction project.
SANRAL representatives provided detailed project information on the scope, timeline, and expected impact of the N2 road upgrade. The planned construction phases were also outlined, including traffic management strategies and safety measures.
Opportunities for local economic participation were highlighted, aiming to benefit the Mkhondo community.
During the engagement, attendees were given the chance to ask questions, raise their concerns, and offer suggestions where applicable promoting transparent communication. For those who couldn’t attend in person also had a fair share of information by live streaming the engagement on the municipal Facebook page.
The event aimed to foster collaboration and minimize disruptions during construction, ensuring that residents and stakeholders are well-informed about the project’s benefits.
By engaging with the community, SANRAL and the Mkhondo Local Municipality can work together to deliver a successful project that meets the needs of the local population.
