KwaNdwalaza, 08 July 2026 – Mkhondo Local Municipality Speaker of Council, Cllr M.Z. Ngwenya, together with Gert Sibande District Municipality Speaker of Council, Cllr B.G. Sekhonde, and officials from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) conducted a Voter Education and Registration Drive at the KwaNdwalaza Traditional Council today.
The purpose of the programme was to educate community members about the importance of democratic participation, encourage eligible residents to register to vote, and provide access to IEC voter registration services. The initiative also sought to promote informed voting, increase voter participation, and strengthen democracy through active citizen engagement.
Addressing the community, Cllr Ngwenya and Cllr Sekhonde emphasised the importance of active participation in democratic processes and encouraged all eligible citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
In support of the programme, Mr Sandlana from the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature encouraged residents to take advantage of voter registration opportunities and to remain informed about electoral processes to ensure meaningful participation in future elections. IEC officials also provided information on voter registration requirements, voting procedures, and the importance of maintaining updated voter registration details.
The programme was attended by iNkosi yakwaNdwalaza Traditional Council, iNkosi A.M. Mahlobo, Ward Councillor Cllr T.W. Manana, representatives from the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Community Development Workers (CDWs), and community members.
