IN PICTURES || Mkhondo Local Municipality successfully convened its Ordinary Council Meeting on 28 August 2025, at the Amsterdam Town Hall. The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, and was conducted in compliance with the Municipal Structures Act and Municipal Systems Act.
Among the key items approved and / or noted in the meeting included:
- Water and Wastewater Report: The council resolved to fast-track the procurement of borehole drilling equipment and intensify water quality monitoring in affected areas, particularly in Saul Mkhizeville, to address water supply and wastewater management challenges.
- 2025/2026 Final Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Review: The council approved the final draft of the IDP Review and recommended its wide publicity through local media outlets to inform community members and gather feedback.
- Task Job Evaluation Process: The council reviewed progress on the job evaluation process, emphasizing its importance in ensuring equitable remuneration and improving service delivery.
- Audit Committee Report: The report highlighted improvements and compliance challenges, with the Chairperson commending financial management strides and calling for stricter enforcement of financial controls.
- Appointment of ICT Committee Chairperson: The council approved the appointment of a new Chairperson to lead the ICT Committee, expected to strengthen digital governance, enhance cybersecurity, and improve e-services delivery.
The Mkhondo Local Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality services, fostering inclusive development, and engaging meaningfully with all communities.
