DAY 2 OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME
The Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya visited the community of Shabalala, Ward 2, today, 15 February 2024, to engage with the community members concerning the issues of service delivery.
The purpose of this programme is to encourage communities to have meaningful inputs into the decision-making processes related to service delivery and community development.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME
Mkhondo Local Municipality Office of the Speaker has embarked on a public participation programme, which will take place in all 19 wards in Mkhondo.
The Speaker of Council Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya engaged with the community of Kwa Ngema North, Ward 1 today, 14 February 2024.
The purpose of this programme is to encourage communities to have meaningful inputs into the decision-making processes related to service delivery and community development.
MUNICIPAL POLICY WORKSHOP
In compliance with legislative requirements of the skill development Act, Mkhondo Local Municipality, through the Skills Development Unit, has conducted a municipal policy workshop for all Councillors at the Municipal Council Chambers today, 13 February 2024..
The workshop has been delivered by departmental seniors with the intention of inducting Councillors on the existing municipal policies.
The focus today was mainly on the Community Services and Technical Services departments. Corporate Services, Planning & Economic Development, and Office of the Municipal Manager is set to follow tomorrow, 14 February 2024.
These policies will assist in providing proper guidelines and procedures for Councillors before they are presented to communities.
MKHONDO EAST CIRCUIT CLASS OF 2023 ANNUAL AWARD CEREMONY
Under the theme “Let’s Grow South Africa Together” The Department of Education in Mpumalanga Province; Mkhondo East Circuit in partnership with Mkhondo Local Municipality held its Annual Award Ceremony for the Class of 2023 at Fontana Church today, 09 February 2024.
This prestigious ceremony was graced by the presence of uBukhosi bakwa Yende, the Acting Executive Mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr. Thokozani Manana, Circuit Managers , Chairperson’s of School Governing Bodies, Parents, Principals, Learners, officials from Gert Sibande District , Mkhondo Local Municipality, Pastors, Teachers Unions and other key stakeholders.
Celebrating hard working learners and educators was the order of the day. The purpose of the event was to applaud and inspire both learners and educators to continue with the outstanding performance achieved in the year 2023 and beyond;also to wish learners great success in their future endeavours as they are stepping into the new milestone.
The current class of 2024 was also present to witness the event as they are also expected to uphold the oustanding performance of the Circuit during the year 2023. This will help the learners to remain focussed and determined for the year ahead .

The session involved providing information on who is eligible to vote, how to register, and how to elect preferred candidates during the voting process.

MPUMALANGA PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE VISITS MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY TODAY FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON MARINE POLLUTION AMENDMENT BILL
HOPE LAUNDRY & PROJECTS CO-OPERATIVE BENEFITS FROM RECEIVING ADVANCED TOOLS OF TRADE
Yesterday, 06 February 2024, Gert Sibande District Municipality, in partnership with Mkhondo Local Municipality, visited Hope Laundry and Projects Cooperative in Richards Bay under Ward 12.
The visit was led by Gert Sibande District Municipality MMC for Planning and Economic Development, Cllr. B Buthelezi, along with Cllr. TE Khumalo, MMC for Planning and Economic Development in Mkhondo Local Municipality.
The purpose of the visit was to hand over a 14 KG Primus Industrial Washing Machine, 2.5 LT Boiler, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Hope Laundry received the goods with immense appreciation as the equipment will enhance the project's efficiency, with the hope of attracting and increasing its clientele count.
SPEAKER OF COUNCIL VOTER EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya of Mkhondo Local Municipality alongside the Whip of Council who is also the Ward four Councillor, Cllr. Daniel Thwala, Senior Manager in the Office of the Speaker at Gert Sibande District Municipality,Mr. Sam Msibi and other municipal officials visited the community of Boesman Village situated in Ward 04 yesterday, 06 February 2024.
The outreach was held to inform and educate residents of Boesman Village on the importance of voting and also provided ways to ensure that all voting procedures are followed accordingly to avoid spoilt ballots papers.
