FOLLOW-UP VISIT TO AMADLELO ALUHLAZA SECONDARY SCHOOL AND DONATION OF SCHOOL UNIFORM TO THUTHUKANI STIMULATION CENTRE (THANDUKUKHANYA)
The MEC for Public Works, Road and Transport, Hon.Mandla Ndlovu, Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu and Gert Sibande District Municipality Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr. Bhekabantu Mtshali visited Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary School today, 23 January 2024 as part of monitoring the school since the re-opening for the 2024 academic school year.
The aim of the visit was to support the school's performance through infrastructure development to allow for a conducive learning environment.
The school reported an impressive incline in their matric pass rate in the 2023 academic year and aims to improve further.
The delegation also visited Thuthukani Stimulation Centre to donate school uniform sets to all the learners at the Centre.
THE 2024 ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR KICKS OFF
The Mpumalanga Department of Education joined hands with Mkhondo Local Municipality and visited secondary schools in the vicinity (Mkhondo) today, 17th of January 2024, as the school year commences.
Ushering an academically prosperous year came through words of wisdom and encouragement from delegates who visited Nganana Secondary School, Ndlela Secondary School, and Amadlelo Aluhlaza Secondary School. Support and Monitoring of the learning and teaching process at the schools through sessions with staff members was also on the day's itinerary and was successfully conducted.
The enthusiasm, eagerness, and promise of dedication from the learners gave hope of an outstanding academic year.

EXECUTIVE MAYOR CLLR NGELOSI NDHLOVU WELCOMED CHRISTMAS BABIES AT PIET RETIEF HOSPITAL
The Executive Mayor welcomed Christmas babies at Piet Retief Hospital
Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Ngelosi Ndhlovu visited Piet Retief Hospital yesterday, 25 December 2023 to present baby hampers to the babies born on Christmas.
The Executive Mayor congratulated all the new parents on the birth of their Christmas babies and expressed gratitude to Sasol for also presenting the mothers and their babies with gifts.
She gave a shout out to the hospital staff who show commitment towards their work to ensure safe delivery of the babies.
FESTIVE SEASON ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAINGN LAUNCH
Mkhondo Local Municipality launches a Safer Festive Season Campaign on the N2 North-bound, at the Paulpietersburg turn-off on the 20th of December 2023.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, through the Community Services Department was joined by the SAPS and the Mpumalanga Provincial Traffic Department to ensure the safety and success of this operation.
The awareness campaign aims at promoting safer road usage during the festive season. A new Traffic Management System aimed at assisting the municipality with the collection of outstanding traffic fines was unveiled and is now operational.
The campaign also included the launching of a First Responders' Vehicle that will be of great assistance in accidents and emergent rescue situations.
The Executive Mayor concluded the launch operation by wishing all road users a safe and joyous Festive Season.
KWA-NGEMA MAYORAL IMBIZO
The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, today successfully hosted a mayoral imbizo at Kwa-Ngema Sports Ground.
This Mayoral Imbizo was inclusive of various wards such as ward 01, ward 02, ward 03, ward 09, ward 15 and ward 18.
The main objective of the Mayoral Imbizo was to give community members a platform to raise their service delivery concerns.
The Executive Mayor was accompanied by the Gert Sibande District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. M.W Mngomezulu, Members of the Mayoral Committee, Ward Councilors, municipal officials led by the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr S.W Nkosi, Mkhondo LED Forum, sister departments and other key stakeholders.

MLM SPEAKER'S OUTREACH PROGRAMME IN WARD 2
The Speaker of Council is responsible for outreach programmes and establishing of ward committees within communities.
Mkhondo Local Municipality Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya yesterday, 03 December 2023, coordinated a public meeting with the Emangisini community in ward 2 to elect a Ward Committee member to be a link between the community and the municipality, by communicating matters that affect and benefit the community of Emangisini.
THE POP-UP MARKET BY MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
A successful Pop-Up Market held by Mkhondo Local Municipality, on the 30th of November 2023 in partnership with Gert Sibande District Municipality, Small Enterprise Development Agency and other key partners.
The Pop-Up Market was established mainly to ignite the spirit of love and support of local brands by creating a platform where local entrepreneurs can showcase their work to enhance brand marketing opportunities and attract potential clientele.
Business owners were also sensitised on how to access help from the goverment which empowers the SMME sector to grow and remain sustainable.
Mkhondo Local Municipality was represented by the MMC for Planning and Development, Cllr. Thembi Khumalo and Mr. Howard Vilakazi, Manager for Local Economic Development.
MKHONDO SAFETY FORUM MEETS TO BRAINSTORM ON SAFETY PLANS
With the festive season upon us, the safety of our communities becomes a priority.
In quest of fighting crime and substance abuse, Mkhondo Local Municipality is on mission, creating safer communities this festive season.
On the 30th of November 2023, The Municipality Collaborated with key stakeholders, the Mkhondo Community Safety Forum, taking a united stand against rising crime this festive season.
Joined by Mkhondo Liquor Forum, Department of Justice , Department of Education , Provincial Traffic , SASSA, Department of Home Affairs , Traditional Affairs , Farmers (AGRI Forum), AFRI Forum, Church Leaders , Taxi Association , Security Companies and Truck Associations together, devising strategies and safety plans to ensure a safer Mkhondo throughout the festive season.
