Mkhondo Local Municipality successfully hosted its Employee Wellness Day on 09 October 2026 at the Piet Retief Rugby Club.
Held under the theme, “True Wellness Is a Balance of Mind, Body and Spirit,” the day provided employees with a platform to showcase their talents, learn about healthy living, and reconnect as a team. The initiative aimed to boost staff morale while promoting mental, physical and financial wellness.
The programme was filled with fun, excitement with active games, including a Fun Walk, Fun Run, Dibeke, Morabaraba, Jikijiki, Intonga and other indigenous games, creating an atmosphere of teamwork, excitement and joy.
Addressing employees, Acting Executive Mayor and MMC for Planning and Economic Development, Cllr. Thembi Khumalo, said employees are the municipality’s most valuable asset and the driving force behind service delivery.
“Investing in employee wellness is essential to building a capable, effective and people-centred municipality,” she said.
The Municipality extended its sincere gratitude to all stakeholders who made the day possible, which includes Mkholo/Mshika Social Workers, African Bank, Shosholoza, TWK, Everest Funerals, Mphazima Funerals, Xolandile Projects, A1 Glass and Aluminium, Dr Lokothwayo / Lokomed, Ingwenyama, Restoration Spa, Sanlam Ermelo, FNB, Keyhealth / Mpumelelo Services, Smilo Projects and Heli Manufacturing.
The Employee Wellness Day reflected the true spirit of togetherness and unity – a reminder that a healthier workforce builds a stronger municipality.
