Yesterday, 27th June 2023, The MEC for Human Settlements, Honourable SK Mashilo visited Mkhondo Local Municipality, for the purpose to evaluate the progress of multiple ongoing human settlement projects.
Amongst the invitees, was the Speaker of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr M Ngwenya, and the Acting General Manager for Technical Services, Mr S Nkosi of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Councillors and various Key Stakeholders.

THE 8th MKHONDO ENVIRONMENTAL SUMMIT 2023
The Mkhondo Local Municipality, held its “8th Mkhondo Environmental Summit 2023 through the Environmental Management Services Section, yesterday, 14 June 2023, at Skeyfin Community Hall in commemoration of World Environmental Day.
Among the various key stakeholders invited, was Gert Sibande District and the media houses in partnership with the municipality.
#BeatPlasticPollution as the theme of the day, not forgetting other environmental issues such as Illegal dumping sites, Air pollution and Climate change.
The community was encouraged to assist the municipality in practicing appropriate waste management to avoid negative impact caused by plastic pollution, as it plays a huge role in climate change and on the environment.

The Acting Municipal Manager, Mr M.S Dlamini addressed stakeholders on the business of the day.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndlovu, has then led the team to the sewer project, currently underway in Amsterdam under Ward 19.
The multiples of people who attended the Mayoral Imbizo were cheerful on the arrival of the Executive Mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndlovu, at Kwa-Thandeka stadium.
The Executive Mayor was accompanied by the MMC for Planning, Economic Development and Innovation in Gert Sibande District Municipality, Inkosi Mthethwa, Member of Mayoral Committee, Ward Councillors, Municipal officials led by the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr M.S Dlamini and other Key Stakeholders.
The Inganana Secondary School led the attendees by singing the National Anthem and with beautiful music. The Local artists were not left behind, their entertainment left everyone extremely excited, "promoting our own".
The purpose was to creating a platform for the community in efforts to address their concerns, to inform residents about the Municipal future projects in improving service delivery and transform Amsterdam into a better town for all its residents, and promoting partnerships.

Today, The LED Office under Mkhondo Local Municipality, together with COGTA, led by the MMC of Planning and Development, Cllr Thembi Khumalo visited Ndawonye Higher Primary School, where they handed-over school uniform to underprivileged learners. The purpose to present this uniform, is to restore the dignity of the underprivileged Ndawonye learners.

The Mkhondo Local Municipality, MMC for Planning and Development, Cllr Thembi Khumalo, leading the officials who are representing the Mkhondo Municipality at the Africa's Travel Indaba, held in Durban (Kwa-Zulu Natal).
The representatives are to explore different exhibitions centers and showcase municipal cultural heritage and diverse tourism attractions.
