COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME AT AJAX
The Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, yesterday hosted a community outreach programme at Ajax Sports Ground under Ward 8.
The Programme has been implemented in partnership with Local Government Departments such as the Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Social Development, South Africa Social Security Agency, Department of Basic Education, Department of Employment and Labour.
The purpose of the Outreach programme was to provide communities with information on services that are provided by government departments.
The programme is aimed to run across all wards of Mkhondo to further assist the people of Mkhondo.

AWARENESS WORKSHOP ON ANTI-FRAUD, CORRUPTION AND ETHICS MANAGEMENT IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT
Mkhondo Local Municipality, through the Risk and Ethics Management Office, in collaboration with the Office of the Premier, conducted an Anti-Corruption workshop for Ward Committee Members at the Municipal Town Hall today, 15 November 2023.
The workshop aims to increase awareness and capacity to eliminate opportunities for fraud, corruption, and unethical behaviour in the local government and community at large.
The Gert Sibande District Municipality Risk Management Forum, Special Investigation Unit, and the Hawks were also amongst the stakeholders who made immense contributions in this workshop. Session 2 takes place tomorrow, 16 November 2023.
TOMBSTONES UNVEILING CEREMONY FOR THE COKA BROTHERS
The Black Forum South Africa, Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mkhondo Local Municipality, and Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Local Municipaility hosted a special unveiling ceremony for the late Coka brothers.
The unveiling of tombstones took place at the Coka homestead in Pamoenkraal farm, on Saturday, the 11th of November 2023.
The ceremony concluded with a community engagement at Njabulo Combined School with the attendance of the Coka family, all stakeholders and the community of Ward 3.
Mngcini and Zenzele were shot and killed on the 09th of April 2021, at Pamoenkraal farm.
ARCHIVES AND RECORDS MANAGEMENT AWARENESS WEEK
Archives and Records Management Awareness Week commenced yesterday, the 13th of November 2023 at Skeyfin Community Hall. Representatives from the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture and the Department of Culture, Sport & Recreation at Regional, Provincial and National level made acquaintance with Ward 16 residents.
Ward 13 Councillor, Cllr. N Mthethwa, welcomed community members and visitors who were in attendance, and was joined by Ward 16 Councillor, Cllr. T Qwabe, who rendered the Vote of Thanks, leading up to closure as the entourage proceeded to the second location.
Mkhondo Local Municipality Officials were also present, playing respective roles in the information session. The programme is set to run throughout the week in various locations, concluding in Amsterdam on Friday, the 17th of November 2023.
THE NDLOVU FAMILY MEMBERS WERE LAID TO REST IN A PEACEFUL AND DIGNIFIED MANNER
IN PICTURES | The Ndlovu family members were laid to rest in a peaceful and dignified manner.
The funeral service of the five Ndlovu family members who died following a fatal accident between a bakkie and a truck on Saturday, 28 October 2023, on the N2 near Ajax, was graced by the presence of the MMC for Technical Services, Cllr. Merry Thwala standing in for the Executive Mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndhlovu accompanied by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. Mduduzi Ngwenya, Whip of Council, Cllr. Daniel Thwala, MMC for Corporate Services, Cllr. Mthandeni Mkhabela who was also directing the programme, the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr. Siphesihle Nkosi, MLM Councillors and Officials.
Other key stakeholders took part in expressing support throughout the funeral proceedings.
A NEW EXCAVATOR MACHINE FOR MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
In a quest to strengthen and improve service delivery to its communities, Mkhondo Local Municipality has purchased a new excavator machine.
The machine was handed over by the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Ngelosi Ndhlovu, to the Environmental Unit under Community Services Department.
The machine will be managing the municipal land fill site and further assist with the construction of cells to make sure that the waste site is accessible and fully operational as required by its license.

MKHONDO LOCAL MUNICIPALITY INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT PLAN REVIEW MEETINGS FOR 2024/25 FINANCIAL YEAR
The meeting was held at the Municipal Council Chambers under Ward 7 and was chaired by Cllr. I Brussow.
Delegated municipal officials and Ward Committee members were also present to respond to questions raised by community members.
The aim of the IDP review meeting is for the municipality to review service delivery concerns that had been raised by the communities during the IDP Consultative Meetings.

The sitting was chaired by the Speaker of Council, Cllr. MZ Ngwenya. Councillors, municipal officials, members of public and media houses were also part of the sitting.
MLM EXECUTIVE MAYOR VISITS HAIL STORM VICTIMS IN SAUL MKHIZEVILLE
Mkhondo Local Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr. Ngelosi Ndlovu today, accompanied by the MMC for Planning and Economic Development Cllr. Thembi Khumalo and Ward 1 Councillor, Cllr. Nosipho Sangweni visited the families who were affected by a hail storm in Saul Mkhizeville on Saturday, 28 October 2023.
The hail storm damaged a number of houses where roofs, windows, furniture, electrical appliances and electricity lines were destroyed resulting to most families being left stranded.
Mkhondo Disaster Management team responded swiftly to the incident and provided assistance to the affected families with sails and blankets, on the same day of the incident.
To further respond to the disaster; the Executive Mayor will coordinate a meeting with relevant government departments to brainstorm on how best the victims can be assisted.
A detailed report will be submitted to Provincial and National Cogta for further intervention in this regard.
