THIS NOTICE IS HEREBY ISSUED TO INFORM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC THAT THE MUNICIPAL OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED AT 13H00 ON 18 DECEMBER 2020 AND RE-OPEN ON 04 JANUARY 2021 AT 07H30 DUE TO FESTIVE SEASON HOLIDAYS. NEVERTHELESS ALL ESSENTIAL SERVICES, COVERING STANDBY SERVICES, EMERGENCY SERVICES, AND REFUSE REMOVAL WILL CONTINUE AS NORMAL.

Water and Wastewater Quality Report (July 2020 – September 2020)
This report indicates an overview of water quality status for the last three months (i.e. July 2020 - September 2020) across Mkhondo Local Municipality jurisdiction area. The report is generated from the monthly water quality results received from Gert Sibande District Municipality Water Quality Laboratory. The report provides summary information on water quality results as required for legislation compliance and thus includes percentage characterisation of water quality against national standards limit/standards for the specified period.
Mkhondo Local Municipality serves as the Water Service Authority (WSA) and also Water Service Provider (WSA). The municipality provides access to water for the communities within its jurisdiction in accordance to the constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act 108 of 1996), the Municipal Structures Act (Act 117 of 1998), Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000) and Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997).

DEBT REHABILITATION AND RELIEF PROGRAMME FOR COMMERCIAL CLIENTS - MUNICIPAL NOTICE NO: 16/30-10-2020
Mkhondo Municipality is owed over R504 million by its consumers. Numerous attempts over the years have been made to recover outstanding debt with little success. The Municipal Council under council item No.20/10/429A has approved a Debt Rehabilitation Programme for commercial clients.
The incentive will be offered for a period of 2 months from the 1st of November 2020 to the 31st of December 2020.

COLLECTION OF CONSUMERS INFORMATION (DATA CLEANSING) IN ALL WARDS AROUND MKHONDO - MUNICIPAL NOTICE NO: 17/09/10-2020
Mkhondo Local Municipality is embarking in the project of collecting consumers information per house hold (data cleansing) from all wards within Mkhondo, the information will be used to update consumers billing particulars. The project will kick start on the 12th October 2020 where the Municipality will send out a team with data collection registers to every household. The project is anticipated to run for the period of five months.
